It is certainly my intention that this blog eventually becomes a database for examples, experiences and references, such as yours. I have a copy of a speech of Martin's, which I'll re-read, thanks for the DVD info.

During the last 20 years of Dick Callner's life, he moved from being almost completely visual to almost completely haptic. Because his "back was to the wall", time and motor skills were diminishing, he took the "leap" and made some of his most beautiful and innovative work.

L. The first is packets of energy. The next, and I think most relevant here, is jumps in levels of energy. If I can extend that to my understanding of how art images come to me to be manifested I can make a connection to your thoughts about artists as quantum practitioners. I ‘m not exactly haptic, though I do have to be in a state of “receiving” to see the images that eventually become sculptures. I believe I’m tuning in to a certain wavelength. I’m inclined to pinpoint the moment of receiving an image to the quantum jump from one level of energy to another. However in my case the transition to material is not instantaneous, but percolates though my self over a period of time. These moments of quantum transference can happen at any time and have sometimes arrived when requested.
Sorry about the haphazard description, but I’m still trying to sort all this out myself.
Some clues to this train of thought come from a book by Agnes Martin titled “Writings”. There’s also a wonderful documentary of her called, “My Back to the World” that’s worth the cost. I think that DVD title is a reference to that “attitude of reception”;, but being more a mental state than physical, though both contribute to the release of the mind/self.
